Q:How much stronger does chemical strengthening make the glass?
A:Roughly four to five times stronger than untreated glass. We target surface compressive stress between 500 and 800 MPa with a strengthened layer depth of 10 to 40 microns. In real-world terms, that means bending strength hits around 300 to 450 MPa, compared to about 80 MPa for raw soda-lime glass.
Q:Why silkscreen printing instead of a sticker or plastic overlay?
A: Because the ceramic frit inks get fired directly into the glass surface. They won't peel, scratch off, or fade-even with heavy cleaning and constant handling. We can also print solid black borders with zero pinholes on glass as thin as 0.7 mm, so there's no light leaking around displays.
Q:What makes GL Glass different from other glass OEMs?
A:We run the entire process in-house cutting, edge grinding, chemical strengthening, silkscreen printing, and optional coatings. No shipping fragile glass between multiple vendors. We also put real attention into edge finishing, with polished chamfers in the 0.1–0.3 mm range. Good edges mean no micro-cracks, which is where most failures start anyway.
Q:What production volumes can you handle and how do you keep quality consistent?
A:Around 2,000 to 3,000 finished pieces per day for standard sizes. Every batch gets checked with DSR or GASP metrology to verify surface stress and depth of layer are on spec. If something drifts, we catch it before it ever leaves the floor.
