Overview of AR Glass

 

 

AR glass, also known as anti-reflection glass, is to reduce its reflectivity by optically coating the glass on one or both sides. Through the optical coating, its transmittance can be increased to more than 99%, and its reflectivity can be controlled to less than 1%.

High Transmittance: Peak visible light transmittance reaches 99%, and the average visible light transmittance exceeds 95%, significantly enhancing the inherent brightness of LCDs and PDPs while reducing energy consumption.

 

Low Average Reflectance: With an average reflectance of less than 4% and a minimum value of less than 0.5%, it effectively mitigates the issue of strong backlighting causing screen washout, resulting in clearer image quality.

 

Rich Image Color: Images display more vibrant colors and stronger contrasts, rendering objects with greater clarity.


UV Protection: Protects eyes by deflecting direct sunlight. It decreases the transmittance of the ultraviolet spectrum, minimizing UV-induced eye damage.

 

Heat Resistance: AR glass can withstand temperatures exceeding 500°C, whereas standard acrylic can only endure up to 80°C.

 

High Abrasion Resistance: Offers superior scratch and wear resistance. The hardness of the AR glass film layer is equivalent to that of glass, surpassing 7H, while standard PC sheets typically range from 2H to 3H.

 

Resistant to Cleaning Solutions: Resilient against a variety of cleaning agents, including acidic and alkaline solutions, without damage to the film.

 

Strong Impact Resistance: 3mm thick AR glass has the same impact resistance as 6mm acrylic.

A: Anti-reflective glass, reduces undesirable light reflection and glare on the glass while increasing transparency, creating clearer, uninterrupted and more natural views through the glass.

Q: What is AR coating made of?

A: In general, AR coating is made of many very thin layers of metal oxides that are applied to the lens surface. The layers alternate between high and low refractive indexes (the refractive index measures how the lens refracts — or bends — light).

Q: What's the difference between AR coating and AG treatment?

A: Below is the key difference:
AR coating is an optical film that used in cover glass surface. The application is to minimize light reflection by destructive interference, which cause light waves reflect off the top and inner surfaces to cancel each other out. It can greatly increase the light transmittance.
AG treatment is a physical or chemical etching to scatters the reflections. The main goal is to break the glare and make it less distracting. It creates a matt surface but slightly reduces clarity and introduces haze.

A: The coating is a thin, multi layer optical films that applied to cover glass surface.
