New Indian Automotive Display Customer Inquiry For Cover Glass
Jul 14, 2026
Date: 14th Jul 2026
GL Glass pleased to announce that we received a new collaboration intention from a new automotive display customer for first cost effective cover glass solutions. The intention specifically requests soda lime glass substrates incorporation 3A(AR, AG, AF) for their in vehicle display screens.

This collaboration intention underscores the growing industry demand for advanced glass solutions to enhance the safety, durability and user expericence. The combination of AG, AR and AF coatings on a soda lime glass base represents a comprehensive approach to addressing the key challenges of in-car displays including sunlight readability, touchscreen clarity and resistance to smudges and scractches.

Meeting the Demands of Modern Automotive Displays
The customer's request highlights the need for a turnkey solution that integrates three critical surface treatments:
Anti-Glare (AG) Coating: As automotive displays become larger and more integrated into the dashboard, managing reflections from ambient light and direct sunlight is paramount. An AG coating diffuses reflected light, significantly reducing mirror-like glare and ensuring critical information such as battery status, navigation, and vehicle data remains clearly visible to the driver. This is especially crucial for electric vehicle displays and charging station interfaces, which are often viewed under bright outdoor conditions.
Anti-Reflective (AR) Coating: Complementing the AG treatment, an AR coating enhances the display's overall optical performance. By minimizing surface reflections and maximizing light transmittance (often achieving >94% with AR treatments), it boosts contrast and makes the screen appear sharper and more vibrant. This is essential for maintaining high image quality and ensuring a premium user experience.
Anti-Fingerprint (AF) Coating: The AF coating provides an oleophobic surface that repels oils and fingerprints from repeated touch interaction. This coating helps to keep the display clean, clear, and hygienic, preserving its aesthetic and functional quality over the vehicle's lifetime. It is often used in combination with AG and AR for superior overall performance.
Technical Execution and Expertise
The customer's interest focuses on a soda-lime glass solution, a material known for its cost-effectiveness and adaptability. GL Glass is prepared to meet this demand by leveraging its technical capabilities in several key areas:
Customized Surface Engineering: We can tailor the AG coating's haze level (typically ranging from 1% to 25%) to achieve the optimal balance between glare reduction and image sharpness, based on the specific display module and application environment.
Multi-Layer Coating Capabilities: Our processes support the application of complex, durable multi-layer coatings (AR+AG, AR+AF, etc.) through advanced physical vapor deposition (PVD) and etching techniques, ensuring coating integrity that resists peeling and degradation under UV exposure and harsh automotive conditions.
Precision Manufacturing: GL Glass offers comprehensive customization, from CNC precision shaping and edge finishing (including 2.5D and 3D options) to chemical strengthening for enhanced impact and scratch resistance, meeting stringent automotive grade standard.
