AGC Kills Dragontrail Production in Q3 2026

Apr 06, 2026

Big news out of Japan. AGC is ending Dragontrail cover glass manufacturing in the third quarter of 2026.

The Dragontrail series has been around for years. It is an aluminosilicate glass chemically strengthened for smartphones, tablets, and automotive displays. The product line includes Dragontrail, Dragontrail Pro, and the lithium-aluminosilicate Dragontrail STAR series.

Why exit now? Two likely reasons. First, competition from Corning and Chinese suppliers squeezed margins. Second, AGC is reallocating resources to higher-growth areas like automotive glass and specialty optics.

What happens to existing customers? AGC says manufacturing ends in Q3 2026. That gives buyers about six months to qualify alternative suppliers. Expect a rush on remaining Dragontrail inventory and price hikes from distributors.

The real story here is consolidation. The cover glass market is brutal for number two and three players. If AGC cannot compete on cost or technology, others will follow.
