USD7.6 Billion Investment: World's First FMM Free 8.6 Generation Amoled Line Gets Its Core Equiment

On 15th Apr, another big milestone for Hefei Guoxian Technology Co.,Ltd. The company's 8.6 Generation Amoled production line-The world's frist high generation line use DMM-free VIP technology just received its first exposure tool, which moved into the main fab's cleanroom.
Why that matter?
Because bringing in core process equipment means the project is shifting from construction phase to equipment installation and commissioning. That sets the stage for later product validation and getting ready for mass production. It also helps push the global OLED industry toward higher-end applications, better quality, and greater value.
From construction to commissioning: ViP moves into large-scale production
Hefei Guoxian's 8.6-Gen line has been moving fast since day one. The project broke ground on September 25, 2024. Civil construction started in February 2025, and the main fab building was topped out just 168 days later – a new speed record for high-generation lines. On March 26, 2026, the team started cleaning the main fab's cleanroom to get everything ready for core equipment. On April 9, Visionox held an expert review of its ViP technology, where a panel including CAS academicians Ouyang Zhongcan, Cao Yong, and Tian He agreed the tech is "world-leading." At that same event, Visionox announced that its upgraded G6 ViP line in Hefei is already supplying wearable displays to Honor. That means ViP has moved from the lab to real products - and it's ready for large-scale production.
Fast forward to April 15, and Hefei Guoxian held a ceremony to mark the equipment move-in. As more equipment arrives and the process comes together, production capacity will gradually ramp up. That puts the line on a clear path toward large-scale production.
A few quick specs: total investment is 55 billion yuan (about $7.6 billion USD), with a planned capacity of 32,000 glass substrates per month. The substrate size is 2290mm x 2620mm. The new line will be able to produce AMOLED panels in many different sizes, covering everything from tiny displays to medium-large ones, and from flat to curved.
