Foldable Display Update: Ultra Thin Flexible Glass Moves From Just Usable To Excellent

Jun 22, 2026

The growing popularity of foldable phones is pushing electronic glass to get thinner and more durable with every generation.

In Luoyang, Henan, Luoyang Glass Group's Longhai Glass unit has started mass production of 0.12mm ultra-thin flexible glass. The material bends like paper and has passed hundreds of thousands of fold tests, already landing bulk orders from several major display makers. The company revamped its plant into a "smart factory" with 21 robotic arms handling high-precision tasks with no workers on the floor, boosting efficiency by over 40%. Its second-phase project is expected to bring in 150 million yuan in annual revenue.

Meanwhile, CNBM (Bengbu) Photoelectric Materials has finished a full upgrade of its production line for ultra-thin high-alumina cover glass used in touchscreens. Its homegrown "Triumph" KS-II series ultra-thin foldable glass is now being used in high-end flagship foldable phones from Chinese brands, breaking the long-standing foreign grip on the production and processing of ultra-thin flexible glass.
